Main Purpose of Job

The position is responsible for computer programming for the Dept. of Health & Human Services in Baltimore County. The position will customize packaged personal computer software applications and will create special purpose office applications and databases to ensure all actions of business can be followed through. The position supervises Computer Information Services Specialists responsible for user support, hardware installations, data entry and other support functions. The position will plan, coordinate, supervise and evaluate the work of the Computer Information Specialists as well as provide resolutions to computer system issues and will provide training as necessary to end users.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience evaluating, implementing and maintaining personal computer hardware and software.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience responding to and resolving help desk calls from users of computers, or operating computer equipment for the purpose of data entry, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, data base or other applications on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Cyber and Information Systems classifications or Cyber and Information Systems specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Six months lead or supervisory experience.
Six months customer service experience and problem solving.
One year experience preparing and providing training to customers on the operation and use of software systems.
Technical Degree or certification (A+, Server +, Network+, etc).

·       Personal Leave - new State employees are awarded six (6) personnel days annually (prorated based on start date).

·       Annual Leave - ten (10) days of accumulated annual leave per year.
