The Team Manager will assist the Director of Community Engagement with managing the day-to-day team activities to maximize team’s potential, developing and implementing timelines to achieve targets and meet deadlines, empowering team members with skills to improve their product knowledge, communication skills and confidence, contributing to the growth of the company to achieve its goals and objectives, manage event activities to include, strategy execution to optimize opportunities with current and potential external partners with the goal of promoting and informing Maryland families of the diverse portfolio of programs and services offered by the department and to increase public awareness, statewide about the Homeowners Assistance Fund (HAF), Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP), State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), and the Maryland Mortgage Program (MMP).

This is a team lead position responsible for supervising community relations activities and initiatives, delegate tasks, review and prepare reports, project plans and progress, assess project needs, monitor schedules, ensure team members have clear goals/objectives to meet deadlines and to support the Director’s vision and strategy for the team; including, effectively communicating outcomes, providing status updates, critical path activity timing, and risk as appropriate. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated history of leadership and/or management experience.

LOCATION OF POSITION

7800 Harkins Road Lanham, MD 20706.

The Department of Housing and Community Development Headquarters is located in Prince George's County across from the New Carrollton Metro stop.

POSITION DUTIES

Assist the Director of Community Engagement with managing the day-to-day operations of the team, coordinating strategy execution for community outreach activities to meet established goals/objectives for a unit engaged in leading and performing assignments to optimize opportunities with current and potential external partners with the goal of promoting and informing Maryland families of the diverse portfolio of programs and services offered by the DHCD. 

This position relates to the mission of the agency by helping low and moderate-income Maryland residents find housing and helps to increase the percentage of low and moderate-income Maryland households who live in decent housing; including, Homeowners Assistance Fund (HAF), Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP), State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), and the Maryland Mortgage Program (MMP), etc. statewide.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:   Nine years of experience in administrative staff or professional work. One year of this experience must have involved one or more of the following:  the supervision of other employees, overseeing and coordinating the general operations of a unit, applying rules and regulations, or exercising responsibility for the development of policies or procedures.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and five years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.  One year of this experience must have involved one or more of the following:  the supervision of other employees, overseeing and coordinating the general operations of a unit, applying rules and regulations, or exercising responsibility for the development of policies or procedures.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience related to the requirements of the position. BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits. Leave may be granted to a temporary/contractual employee who has worked 106 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
