This is a seasonal recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Park Service. There are three (3) vacancies: One (1) Park Maintenance Worker, One (1) Housekeeping/Cabin Cleaner, and One (1) Park Ranger

Main Purpose of Job
The Maryland Park Service is currently recruiting for multiple seasonal contractual positions at
Janes Island State Park in Crisfield, Maryland. You must indicate on the Supplemental
Questionnaire the position(s) of interest in order to be considered for this recruitment. Please
review the main purpose of each job closely before applying.
PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER (1 vacancy) ($16.15 / hour)
The Seasonal Park Maintenance position is responsible for the maintenance of grounds, facilities
and equipment in a park or recreation area.
Duties may vary for each facility and generally include, but are not
limited to:
• Clean restrooms, shelters and campsites
• Refill bathroom supplies
• Removal of litter
• Maintenance of facilities and grounds
• Mow and trim grass
• Painting, electric, carpentry and plumbing work
• Upkeep of vehicles, equipment and vessels
• Use of hand tools and operation of power equipment
HOUSEKEEPING / CABIN CLEANERS (1 vacancy) ($16.15 / hour)
The Housekeeping and Cabin Cleaner position provides daily general maintenance for park
facilities and public areas.
Duties may vary for each facility and generally include, but are not limited to:
• Clean and maintain public rental cabins, public restrooms and public buildings
• Litter removal
• Provide visitors with park information and regulations
• Perform minor maintenance tasks
• Applicants must be able to lift 50 lbs.
PARK RANGER (1 vacancy) ($17.00 / hour)
A Seasonal Park Ranger is a temporary, introductory level of work in the operation of a State
park.
Duties may vary for
each facility and generally include, but are not limited to:
• Provide visitors with park information and regulations
• Register campers
• Monitor and cleaning of campgrounds, bath houses and restrooms
• General maintenance of park trails, public facilities, staff buildings and DNR vessels and
vehicles
• Monitor recreational activities in the park, including but not limited to hunting, fishing, hiking
and biking

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions. Applicants must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled.
BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
