Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for the management and supervision of the facilities at our Matapeake office complex. This position works to keep the buildings and grounds of Hydrographic Operations functional and safe. In addition, this position manages the buoy maintenance operations ensuring buoys are repaired and prepped for installation in Maryland waters following all USCG rules and directions. Hydrographic Operations is housed in an approximate 8000 square foot building and a 5000 square foot warehouse and sits on .25 acre of land. The facility is place of employment for 25 workers. This position is responsible for the maintenance of the building, heating and air conditioning, the heavy equipment cranes, forklifts, large trucks, cement mixers, power-washers, and other large equipment. The position should have a working knowledge of electric and gas-powered equipment and either preform general maintenance of the equipment or supervise the contractual maintenance and repairs. During buoy work the position will use the cranes, forklifts, and heavy equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Eighth grade.

Experience: Five years of experience in the building maintenence or building construction trades including four years of experience assigning, reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Experience using cranes, forklifts, large trucks, and cement mixers.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This position is limited to current DNR employees only.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
