This position works on a compressed work schedule from 6:30 am to 5 pm, Tuesday thru Friday. The Maryland Military Department offers free parking at this location.

POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is the lead HV AC position at Facility Sustainment Team (FST). This position will travel to facilities in the Baltimore regional and possible statewide for forty-two (42) Maryland Army & Air National Guard Facilities, including 342 buildings, 1 operational airfield and 4 military training sites as needed or assigned. This position is Emergency Essential.

Duties for this position include but are not limited to: 

Repairs, maintain, replaces, or installs trade components in their specified trade at various National Guard facilities. This position focus is on HVAC as the lead HV AC tech but is not limited to that trade function. This position may supervise and lead other skilled or semi-skilled trade positions in various trade functions. Responsible for the development, updating and monitoring of preventive maintenance schedules for all buildings i.e., filters, boilers, water treatment, HV AC, elevators, etc. Troubleshoot all infrastructure systems to determine faults. Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on all HV AC systems. Repairs/replaces faulty indoor & outdoor plumbing fixtures, repair/replace faulty lighting, lighting fixtures and ballasts. Maintain, repair, & troubleshoot kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, refrigerators, and freezers. Repair and maintain all other items as directed by supervisor. By utilizing the AIM automated work order system, you will open and close customer service requests and open and close work orders for all facilities related repairs or will utilize the Air Force Integrated Equipment Management System (IEMS) automated work order system to open and close customer service requests work orders for all facilities related repairs. You will prioritize customer service requests and work orders to ensure urgent repairs are completed in a timely manner to prevent damage to state property and facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Eighth grade.

Experience: Four years of experience in the building maintenance or building construction trades including three years of experience assigning, reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications

* Four years of experience working with HVAC systems.

* Experience with HVAC repairs and maintenance as well as installation.

* Demonstrated willingness to be trained and learn new HVAC skills, as this position has the

potential to move up the Maintenance Chief series to a Senior HVAC Technician (Maintenance

Chief IV, Non Lic).

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland with less than 5 points on their driving record.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

This position will require the ability to pass a federal security check in addition to a State & Federal background check to obtain a CAC ID card to access military installations and computer systems. The ability to obtain and maintain a CAC ID Card is a condition of employment for this position.

This position requires statewide travel.

Leave Benefits include:

* Personal Leave - new State employees are awarded six (6) personnel days annually (prorated based on start date).
