Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to complete the nutritional part of the multi-disciplinary assessment packet and nutrition part of the multi-disciplinary annual assessment. Responsibilities would include initial, quarterly, bi annual, and annual nutritional notes. Other responsibilities would be nutritional consult, team meetings, nutrition education, assisting the Director with performance improvement plans, participating in revisions of policy and procedures, and participating in monthly in-service training of all employees.

Per the Amended Directive and Order Regarding Vaccination (MDH # 2023.04.18.03) issued by the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health, effective April 18, 2023, staff in all hospitals and residential facilities operated by the Maryland Department of Health or any local health department are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Staff includes, but is not limited to, regular and contractual employees, contractual staff, volunteers, and other state employees performing any duties at the facility. An individual may request an accommodation by providing appropriate and sufficient documentation for bona fide medical or religious reasons.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Dietetic Practice under the licensing requirements for Nutritionists and Dietitians.

Experience: One year of experience providing professional nutrition or dietetic services. 

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Dietitian and Nutritionist classifications or Dietitian and Nutritionist specialty codes in the Dietitian field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Dietitian/Nutritionist from the Maryland State Board of Dietetic Practice.

2. Candidates for positions in this classification must be registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) prior to completion of probationary period and must maintain a current registration during their time of employment. Applicants who are currently registered should submit proof of CDR registration with application.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification may be required to provide the facility with a telephone number at which they can be reached.
