The Maryland Department of the Environment is accepting applications for multiple Student Technical Assistant positions for a 3-month period starting June 2022.

Main Purpose of Job

The Student Technical Assistant classification is used to hire college students pursuing degrees in fields such as environmental science, biology, earth science, geology, engineering, mathematics, chemistry, political science, pre-law, and other qualifying degrees. Students will work alongside public servants to protect and restore the environment for the health and well-being of all Marylanders. Projects may involve fieldwork, analysis, and participation in meetings. The Student Technical Assistant will assist staff in the Office of the Secretary, Coordinating Offices, Air Radiation Administration, or the Water & Science Administration. The Student must be able to handle confidential information and work according to agency policies, procedures and guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Eligible students must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in the areas of environmental science, biology, earth science, geology, engineering, mathematics, chemistry, political science, pre-law, or other qualifying degrees.

Students that have completed their Bachelor's degree must be enrolled in a graduate program to be eligible. Enrollment documentation in the graduate program must be submitted when appointed to the position.

KNOWLEDGE OF MICROSOFT PRODUCTS, I.E., WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, ETC. MAY BE A REQUIREMENT FOR SOME POSITIONS

SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated. The evaluation will be a rating of your education as it relates to the requirements of the position. Therefore, it is essential that you provide accurate information on your application.
