POSITION DUTIES

To supervise defendants in a community setting and maximize the probability of their compliance with court ordered conditions of release.
Provide intensive supervision to defendants via face-to-face contacts, community visits (i.e. home, work, school), and by telephone to ensure public safety.
Supervise defendants to ensure their compliance with the court ordered conditions of release.
Prepares supervision reports and revocation requests on defendants under supervision in order to advise the court of their level of compliance.
Performs risk assessments to determine level of supervision and/or risk of flight.
Conducts community visits to verify residence, employment, and educational status consistent with case supervision.
Interviews defendants to obtain background information and to explain the requisite rules and regulations of community supervision.
Advises defendants of all scheduled court hearings and program appointments.
Escorts defendants to the lab and supervises the collection of urine samples in accordance with accepted procedure. Presents verified information to the judges of the circuit and district courts as a participant at the hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet all minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalence certificate.

Experience: One year conducting pretrial release investigations which includes determining eligibility for pretrial release and recommending conditions of pretrial release to the court.

Note:

1. Additional experience conducting investigations which requires obtaining and analyzing factual information and writing narrative reports of findings may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in special investigations or military police classifications or specialty codes in the criminal justice field of work at the rate of two years of military experience for one year of experience.

1. Willing to conduct in person supervision of defendants by traveling to their home, work or school.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience accessing and analyzing criminal history in criminal justice databases (i.e., CJIS, NCIC, MILES)
2. Experience preparing Supervision Reports and Revocation Requests on defendants in order to advise the court on defendant’s compliance.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
