Introduction

This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Environmental Trust (MET). This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Future vacancies may also be filled via other recruitments. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Crownsville, Maryland (Anne Arundel County)

POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to manage all MET records and easement data, assist staff with technology/office supplies, and work with DNR IT regarding technology or database/software.

Primary functions of this position include formulating and implementing policies and procedures for managing digital and paper records, technology (hardware and software), as well as coordination and management of technology (hardware and software) procurement, maintenance, and disposal for the organization. The position is essential in helping to formulate and implement policies and protocols to ensure that MET’s recordkeeping and stewardship practices conform with State of Maryland requirements and are in accordance with Land Trust Alliance Standards and Practices. The position has lead responsibility for updating and implementation of protocols for recordkeeping and data, document processing in support of easement stewardship. The position facilitates coordination between MET and DNR IT Department as well as MET and the Department of Information Technology.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Three years experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.  

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.  

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet the minimum and selective qualifications to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

• One year of experience with managing and/or providing user support in information technology and with managing digital and paper records;  

OR  

• 30 credits in Information Technology from an accredited institution of higher education is required.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.

Experience in formulating and implementing policies and procedures for managing digital and paper records.

Experience with technology (equipment or computer hardware and software), as well as coordination and management of technology (hardware and software) procurement, maintenance, and disposal for the organization.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
