Main Purpose of Job

The Maternal and Child Health Bureau Medical Director provides programmatic and operational management and leadership for policy and program development, and advocacy for promoting the health of Maryland women, infants, children, adolescents, and families in accordance with the federal Title V-MCH Block Grant program and state quality improvement initiatives. The position provides highly responsible clinical and programmatic oversight at the level of an experienced physician with training and expertise in public health, pediatrics, neonatology, obstetrics/gynecology, or family medicine. This position may lead assigned staff, develops operational policies, procedures, standards and guidelines consistent with mandates and regulations, evaluates services provided, coordinates and analyzes data, trends and reporting capabilities, and makes recommendations and decisions to improve clinical service delivery. Candidate selected for this position should have experience with maternal/reproductive, child and infant populations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicant must possess a degree in medicine from an accredited college or university and have five years experience as a licensed physician working in the field of public health, with three years experience with maternal/reproductive, child and infant populations.

Notes: 1. Applicants must be licensed and currently registered with the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. A photocopy of the current registration must be attached to the application.

2. Applicants not yet possessing a license to practice medicine in Maryland but who are eligible for licensure must attach a photocopy of a letter from the Maryland Board of Physicians stating eligibility by reciprocity or endorsement. Applicants will not be appointed until they have received a license from the Maryland Board of Physicians. The Board may be contacted at 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21215.

SELECTION PROCESS

This is a Management Service position and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority. A resume must accompany your application.
