Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Utilizes the State's Advanced Purchasing and Inventory Control System (ADPICS) system and RSTARS.
Compiles, verifies and evaluates all pertinent documentation for State Tuition Assistance reimbursement.
Maintains monthly reconciliation of detailed spreadsheet with FMIS.
Maintains vendor payment and transmittal files accurately and promptly organized numerically and alphabetically.
Develops and maintains automated spreadsheets to track expenditures.
Analyzes and interprets this information and provides managers to assist them in budgeting and federal cost recovery.
Verifies invoices against appropriate support documentation including purchase orders/ contracts and receiving reports/ packing slips.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years of experience reviewing, verifying, recording, adjusting and balancing financial transactions.
Notes:
1. Experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required high school education.
2. Six credit hours in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
One year of experience using Microsoft Office Suite Excel to create spreadsheets and Word to create reports and/or documents.
One year of experience processing accounts payable and/or accounts receivable.

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience as presented on your application and as they relate to the requirements of the position. Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.
BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
