This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Park Service. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Future vacancies may also be filled via other recruitments.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Annapolis, MD (Anne Arundel County)

Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Park Service is currently accepting applications for an Administrative Officer II that will serve as the Program Manager for the Conservation Jobs Corps, which engages at-risk youth in conservation service in State Parks. Duties include but are not limited to: (1) assists in recruitment, hiring and training program staff; (2) coordinates enrichment programs which connect youth with recreation and overnight camp activities and conservation projects; (3) develops annual budget projections; (4) completes vehicle bids to procure transportation for corps members, following established state procurement policies. This position also prepares and processes invoices, monitors expenditures, corporate card purchases and encumbrances and maintains program files. This position makes recommendations concerning operational needs and priorities and responds to inquiries from the public and park staff. Travel across the state and some overnight travel is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Two years experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of experience dealing with customers/public in the following manners: telephone, e-mail, written correspondence, face to face contact.

Two years of experience monitoring and reconciling fiscal/budgetary resources.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Current Maryland State employees only.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
