Main Purpose of Job

A Psychiatrist Clinical Administrator, MDH is the supervisory level of work providing clinical psychiatric services to patients who are mentally ill, chronically ill or developmentally disabled or are in need of medical and preventive treatment. Positions in this class function as a Unit/Ward Administrator responsible for unit/ward services at a 24/7 MDH facility, or functions as a Clinical Program Administrator for a Headquarters office, division, or comparable program. These positions are located at 24/7 MDH facilities in Central Maryland (Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Carroll, Cecil, Charles, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, Prince Georges, and St. Mary’s Counties and Baltimore City). Positions functioning as a Unit/Ward Administrator responsible at a 24/7 MDH facility supervise lower level MDH Psychiatrists or Physicians, and other health care support staff.  Positions functioning as the Clinical Program Administrator for a Headquarters office, division, or comparable program may supervise lower level MDH Psychiatrists or administrative staff.  

This position is required to participate in 24/7 on call psychiatric coverage on a monthly basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Physicians under the licensing requirements for Physicians.

Experience: As required for certification in Psychiatry by the American Medical Association Specialty Board or other Board approved by the Maryland Board of Physicians.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1 Applicants must be board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Medical Specialties, or other Board approved by the Maryland Board of Physicians

2. Applicants must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. A copy of a current Maryland medical license and board certification should be attached to the application.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
