Introduction

MPT internships offer a thorough introduction to Maryland Public Television including our mission and expectations. Maryland Public Television is committed to providing solid work experience to serious minded individuals in a positive environment.

All MPT internships are unpaid. An internship that is not for academic credit is deemed a volunteer.

Main Purpose of Job

Maryland Public Television offers full-time and part-time internships for college students throughout the year. Internships are specifically designed to provide training and experience for students interested in public broadcasting.

POSITION DUTIES

The development office is responsible for fundraising and volunteer management for MPT. Intern will learn how a not for profit station works. Intern will be asked to maintain and update volunteer database, develop training program for on air pledge volunteers, recruit, schedule and confirm telephone pledge volunteer groups and individuals, and handle incoming calls related to volunteer scheduling. Candidate must be detail oriented and have excellent phone and word processing skills. Must have working knowledge of databases and Power Point or similar slide show presentation software.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must meet the following criteria:

Students must be a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate of a college, university, or trade school who must be able to commit to a minimum of 16 hours per week and have reliable transportation.

If your interest is not for academic credit, but for experience only, please indicate that information in your cover letter and submit a professional reference from an advisor, instructor or employer.

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must accompany the application.

Preferred Majors: Communications, Business, Human Resources

Interns will be evaluated based upon information submitted via this online application process and may be invited to interview.
