Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of the Maryland Board of Physicians (MBP) is to assure quality health care in Maryland through the efficient licensure and effective discipline of health providers under its jurisdiction, by protecting and educating clients/customers and stakeholders, and enforcing the Maryland Medical Practice Act. This position will directly support the mission by producing complex reports for Federal and State agencies, compiling statistics on all Board disciplinary actions, writing summaries of Orders for the Board's website, interpreting grounds, complete processing of Board changes and Orders, interacting with the Board's rehabilitation program, administering the Board's record retention schedule and monitoring individuals in a Disposition Agreement with the Board.
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or university.
1. Experience conducting investigations in the area of health care, insurance, medical malpractice or other related investigative experience as defined by the Maryland Board of Physicians may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.
2 Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Legal or Investigator classification or Legal or Investigator specialty codes in the Investigation field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate should have a certificate in paralegal studies and/or have paralegal experience.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS
The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
