LOCATION OF POSITION
Main Purpose of Job
The Maryland Department of Health, Behavioral Health Administration is seeking Registered Nurses to provide nursing care as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act to patients/clients who are referred to the Central Intake Unit, a 24-bed forensic inpatient facility conducting evaluation and treatment for court ordered individuals diagnosed with psychiatric illness. The Central Intake Unit is located on the grounds of Spring Grove Hospital Center, in Catonsville, Maryland and is considered a highly acute psychiatric unit. Registered Nurses on the unit will: provide nursing care to patients/clients; administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques; assess the current health status of the patient and identify nursing needs; observe, evaluate, and validate with patient the effects of nursing measures and revise the care plan, as necessary; work with a healthcare team in developing and implementing appropriate nursing care measures, health programs and patient care plans; and perform other similar duties.
Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate for this position will possess professional experience with psychiatric patients.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215. *** A copy of your current licensure should accompany your completed application.***
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification.
1. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.
2. Employees in the classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
