Introduction

This is a position specific recruitment for the Department of Natural Resources, Natural Resources Police Division within the Office of Communications. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Future vacancies may also be filled via other recruitments. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Annapolis, Maryland (Anne Arundel County)

Main Purpose of Job

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Office of Communications is currently accepting applications for an Administrator II. This position is responsible for developing and disseminating external and internal communications that inform and educate the people of Maryland, Department employees, and other federal, State, local and municipal law enforcement agencies regarding public safety and other department related activities and programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required general experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet the minimum and selective qualifications to be considered. Please include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

One year of experience in communications in the first responder arena is required.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience planning and directing activities or managing the day-to-day operations of an organizational unit or program.

2. Experience preparing and disseminating news releases.

3. Master’s Degree in Journalism.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

Successful candidates may be ranked as Best Qualified, Better Qualified, or Qualified and placed on the employment (eligible) list for at least one year.
