Main Purpose of Job

Provides all of the interior and exterior painting needs/requirements of a large size State facility for the purpose of maintaining the professional appearance.

POSITION DUTIES

This position is responsible for preparing and painting walls, ceilings, trim work doors, furniture and various exterior finishes.  This also includes dry wall taping, spackling and chalking.  This entails the use of stains, sealers and other coloring and hard finishes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of the eighth grade.

Experience: Four years of experience in painting work.

Notes: 

1. Additional painting experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of the required education.

 2. A degree from an accredited vocational or technical high school with a concentration in painting may be substituted for up to three years of the required painting experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Painters, Construction and Maintenance classifications or Painters, Construction and Maintenance specialty codes in the Painting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
