LOCATION OF POSITION
This is a Bilingual/Spanish position is located in the Revenue Administration Division, Taxpayer Service Section. The incumbent of this position will assist taxpayers by answering and resolving bilingual telephone inquiries, at a beginning level, coming into the Annapolis Call Center, regarding the different tax types administered by the Revenue Administration Division. To responsibly and equitably enforce collection of various types of deficient income taxes, counsel taxpayers in prevention of future deficiencies and ensure compliance with Maryland tax laws. As well as assisting all units within Revenue Administration Division in translating phone calls and correspondence.
PLEASE NOTE: Must be willing to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. May be requested to work evenings and/or Saturdays during the Tax Season. For the purpose of the statement, Tax Season shall be defined as the period beginning January 15th and closing May 15th.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of experience involving one or more of the following areas: customer service, telecommunications, fiscal clerical or clerical related work.
- Additional education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of thirty credit hours for one year of the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in accounting and budget classification or accounting and budget specialty codes in the financial clerical and technician field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Customer service experience.
- Demonstrated reliable and predictable attendance.
- Knowledge of Federal and Maryland state income tax laws and forms.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office and experience utilizing other computer programs.
LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
- Unable to engage in tax preparation outside the requirements of your job.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience. Qualifying applicants are subject to an oral interview. Prior to appointment, the employee must successfully undergo a comprehensive background investigation including a review of criminal, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Upon initial appointment OR promotion to a position in the State Personnel Management System, an employee is required to serve an initial six month probationary period. This probationary period may be extended an additional six months under certain circumstances at the discretion of the appointing authority.
