Introduction

The Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, Division of Unemployment Insurance (DUI) Benefit Accuracy Measurement Unit (formerly Quality Control) is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of UI Staff Specialist II.

Main Purpose of Job

Work generally involves the analysis and interpretation of data and situations; the analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvements; participation in operational or procedural planning processes; or the facilitation of program support activities.

POSITION DUTIES

The primary purpose of this position will be to independently audit randomly selected unemployment insurance paid and denied claims for accuracy, completeness and adherence to UI law and policy The audits will review every facet of the Unemployment Insurance Program, particularly with regard to claims and benefits.  To accomplish this, the specialist must perform claims specialist duties; review/analyze the casework of other claims specialists and hearing examiners; utilize the MABS system; and respond to correspondence via letter, email and telephone.     

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE SPECIALIST I

Experience: One year of full-time paid employment in the Maryland State classification of Employment Security Trainee or Unemployment Insurance Associate III or equivalent classification in the Employment Security Administration.
