POSITION DUTIES
- Provides technical assistance to end users to resolve problems with hardware and software;
- Installation, configuration, testing of computers, peripherals, software, network components, camera systems (both in-car and body worn);
- Installation, removal and configuration of network, computer and camera systems;
- Preparation of equipment, pre-deployment imaging and setup and configuration of all equipment;
- Handle and provide service to all service calls within the assigned area of responsibility;
- Provide support to the multiple in-car vehicle systems such as computers, in-car camera and body worn cameras;
- Running and terminating cables, supporting of network ups systems, assisting in the diagnoses and troubleshooting;
- Make recommendations for improvements; and
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of experience evaluating, implementing and maintaining personal computer hardware and software.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute experience responding to and resolving help desk calls from users of computers, or operating computer equipment for the purpose of data entry, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, data base or other applications on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute nine credit hours in personal computer applications at an accredited college, university or institution for one year of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute the completion of a certification program in computer repair, such as Microsoft A+ or an equivalent program for one year of the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Cyber and Information Systems classifications or Cyber and Information Systems specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference
will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualifications.

1. Experience with the installation, maintenance and
troubleshooting of hardware
2. Experience installation and maintenance of
Microsoft based software

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
In accordance with
Section 2-204(b)(6) of the Public Safety Article, candidates for position in
this classification may be subject to an initial drug screening and a complete
criminal background investigation to include a polygraph examination before
permanent appointment can be made. A criminal conviction may be grounds for
rejection of the candidate.
SELECTION PROCESS
Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will
be considered for this classification. Therefore, it is essential that you
provide complete and accurate information on your application. Successful
candidates will be placed on the Eligible List categorized as BEST QUALIFIED,
BETTER QUALIFIED or QUALIFIED and remain eligible for consideration for at
least one year from the date of examination. The list will be used by the
hiring manager to select employees. The list will be valid for one year.
EXAMINATION PROCESS
The examination will consist of a rating of your
education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position.
You may be required to complete a qualifications supplement, or the rating may
be based on your application. Report all experience and education that is
related to this position.
