Introduction
Maryland Public Television, commonly known as MPT, is a public television network that broadcasts throughout the entire state of Maryland and the District of Columbia and into parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. MPT is Maryland's only statewide broadcaster. Headquartered in Owings Mills, MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and is a producer of both locally and nationally distributed TV programs and digital content.

Main Purpose of Job
The contractual
Gifts Associate position is responsible for the accurate and timely processing
and acknowledgment of all charitable donations made to MPT. The Gifts Associate
supports all Development fundraising activity, including processing financial
gifts received from direct mail, on-air-pledge, online, individual retirement
accounts (IRA Rollovers), workplace giving, stock donations, tribute and
memorial gifts and other sources. The Gifts Associate helps to maintain the integrity
of the member database and member satisfaction.
This is a Special Appointment
position and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.
POSITION DUTIES
Special Gifts Processing:
- Input, code and process all special financial gifts, including matching gift requests and payments; contributions from IRA [VT1] Rollovers; donor-advised funds; gifts of stock as well as contributions from workplace giving campaigns.
- Work closely with MPT's fundraising consultant Member Services Bureau (MSB) to ensure that all special gifts are processed and entered into the member database.
- Work in partnership with the MPT Finance team and MPT Foundation staff to reconcile special gifts data and ensure that all donations are entered prior to the end of month deadline.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports and daily contributions along with all back-up documentation to MPT's Finance Department.
- Provide customer service to donors with membership account inquiries about special gifts and follow up on donor problems where appropriate.
- Collaborate with the Membership Operations team to ensure that all other gifts and donor information are processed and entered into the member database promptly and accurately.
- Assist with sustainer program account maintenance adjustments, including upgrades, downgrades, refunds, termination, "thank you" gift selection, payment information updates, and electronic funds transfer (EFT) conversion efforts of MPT's over 27,000 sustainer member files. Sustainers are monthly donors to MPT.
- Assist with daily gift entry and processing. Enter all house mail and online credit cards and check payments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist with weekly pledge payment reminders and declined credit card letters.
- Assist with uploading and troubleshooting the lockbox file and correcting donor information in the online portal.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to, occasional participation in on-air pledge drives, station events, departmental projects, meetings and trainings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
- Experience in financial gift processing, accounting or finance
- Experience in data entry with a high level of accuracy Experience with databases and spreadsheets
- Detail-oriented, highly organized with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with membership databases such as Revolution CRM, Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or a similar customer relationship management database software
- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this
classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor
vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor
vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
