Introduction

This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Office of Communication and Marketing. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Future vacancies may also be filled via other recruitments. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.

Please note, this position is a Special Appointment which serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

Main Purpose of Job

Oversee video production, photo production, and outreach for the agency and provide support to the Office of Communications, individual units and the agency through administrative duties, writing and editing, and other duties as assigned.

POSITION DUTIES

The Department of Natural Resources, Office of Communications, located at the Tawes State Office Building, Annapolis, Maryland, is currently accepting applications for an Administrator IV with the working title of Videographer. This position is responsible for videography work by developing, implementing and maintaining the agency’s video production guidelines. As well as regularly travel to plan and film video projects. Also, edit and archive video projects. Employees in this classification will provide advice and guidance to agency employees on the use of video and photo production. This position reports to the Communications Director and takes direction from other staff in the office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Seven years of experience in public information, public relations, journalism or other related experience in publicity or promotional work.

Notes: 
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with at least 30 semester credit hours in one or more of the following subjects: English, journalism, public relations, writing or other similar and related areas of study and three years of experience in public information, public relations, journalism or other related experience in publicity or promotional work for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in public affairs specialist classification or public affairs specialty codes in the information and arts field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Willingness to travel
  • Experience in videography
  • Experience in writing scripts and editing videos

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
