Introduction
Maryland voters approved a referendum to legalize adult-use cannabis in the State effective July 1, 2023. This position will be a part of the State’s regulatory body for both medical and adult-use cannabis.

Main Purpose of Job
The Chief Communications Officer is responsible for developing and implementing a communications, marketing, digital and social media strategy, managing all media relations for the agency, and supervising communications staff. The position will oversee all organizational internal and external communications on behalf of the Executive Director and executive staff. The position will also work closely with the Office of Social Equity to develop a comprehensive public outreach plan promoting cannabis licensing opportunities in the State.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media;
