POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to provides administrative supervision to clinical staff. The Clinical Coordinator is a member of the facilities Executive Board, which is the facility’s Governing Body. The Clinical Coordinator Provides administrative supervision of the Clinical Supervisors and provides support to the Unit Directors. These duties include monitoring and approving leave, participating in evaluations of clinical supervisors, managing the PPEP process for clinical supervisors, providing administrative support to clinical supervisors, interviewing and hiring staff, and filling in for clinical supervisors and clinicians in the event of absence or extended leave.

Other duties include:
  • Monitors clinical documentation for uniformity, quality and completeness using direct evaluation and summary reports produced by Medical Records and Utilization Review monitoring. 
  • Monitors clinical staff participation in the IEP process. Sets standards for the fair distribution of work load and special assignments. 
  • Keeps clinical job descriptions current.
  • Conducts evaluations in collaboration with psychiatrists. 
  • Orientates new clinical staff to the agency and its processes and participates in the training of new clinical staff.
  • Alerts clinical staff as to changes in processes and provides pertinent information to clinical staff. 
  • Facilitates monthly Clinical Meeting. 
  • Reviews and approves the minutes of clinical meetings. 
  • Facilitates and or participates in Patient Care Monitoring (PCM) meetings and writes the meeting minutes/notes. 
  • Facilitates the monthly Discharge Projections Meeting and maintains documentation. 
  • Scores Impulsivity and SASSI assessments

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers.

Experience: Seven years of experience rendering clinical social work services in a health care or treatment setting subsequent to the receipt of an approved Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university. At least three years of the experience must have involved the direction of a clinical services program/unit or the supervision of Social Workers with Master degrees. 

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Social Work classifications or Social Work specialty codes in the Social Science, Psychology, and Welfare field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred candidates should possess the following:
  • One year experience providing clinical supervision
  • One year experience working with youth clients in a psychiatric setting

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates must be licensed as a Certified Social Worker-Clinical by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners prior to appointment to a position in State service. Applicants who do not have the license may also apply pending receipt of the required license. When the license is obtained, submit a copy to the Maryland Department of Health Testing unit.  A copy of your license or license number and expiration date must accompany you application.

2. Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess an appropriate operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
