POSITION DUTIES
The main purpose of this position is to act as a technical and administrative specialist for the Department's Continuing Care Retirement regulatory function. The employee will work closely with, and assist the Continuing Care Division Director in:
1) Receiving and reviewing applications, disclosure statements and marketing materials for accuracy, completeness and compliance with Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) and Continuing Care at Home (CCAH) laws and regulations;
2) Assessing existing Division processes and operations, taking the initiative to identify and implement ways to improve system efficiency, accuracy and responsiveness;
3) Facilitating the efficient completion of contract and document reviews by the Division's Assistant Attorney General;
4) Assisting Continuing Care providers, their residents and the general public to improve compliance, understanding and awareness of Continuing Care laws and regulations.
Technical/Administrative
Assistance to Division Director
Using subject matter skills to
assist the Division Director in:
· Reviewing and processing Continuing Care
applications, renewals, submissions from providers for accuracy, completeness
and compliance with Continuing Care laws;
· Organizing and improving Division processes and
databases;
· Improving procedures and operations and filing
systems;
· Updating forms, providing website updates, and
other materials;
· Processing public information requests.
Providers/Residents Assistance
Using subject matter skills to
educate and assist Continuing Care providers and residents with:
· Inquiries, submissions and other matters;
· Compliance with Continuing Care laws;
· Improving communication systems and processes.
Consumer Assistance
Using subject matter skills to
assist with inquiries from consumers and the general public by:
· Receiving and responding to inquiries by phone,
email and other correspondence;
· Improving public understanding and awareness of
Continuing Care laws and the Department of Aging's role.
Other Duties as Assigned
Responsible for performing other
technical, administrative or special project duties as assigned by the
Secretary or Division Director."
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- One year experience supporting a higher level executive such as a Division Chief
- Experience in designing, creating new and/or improving existing data and filing systems, and regulatory review systems
- Experience managing communications with various constituencies: public, consultants, industry professionals and leaders
- Excellent oral and written skills and ability to work within a team
- Experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
