POSITION DUTIES
A Sports Wagering Representative is responsible for performing assigned sports
wagering compliance duties at Maryland Lottery and Gaming licensed gaming
facilities. Employees in this class are responsible for receiving complaints from the
public; monitoring facility employees and vendors and ensuring that various aspects of
the facility internal controls, security plans, surveillance plans and responsible gaming
plans are adhered to; perform licensing functions and ensure the integrity of the kiosk
and betting window operations. In addition, employees in this class are responsible for
conducting investigations, when warranted into the following: operation of kiosks and
betting windows; employee terminations; COMAR and ICS violations; criminal activity
and any other investigations as Lottery and Gaming may deem necessary.
- Serves as a liaison and establishes relationships with all levels of law enforcement, facility management, facility staff employees, all registered and certified vendors, and all necessary persons.
- Responds to all patron complaints and questions and attempts to resolve
all complaints from patrons in a satisfactory and equitable manner.
- Prepares a report for all incidents, regulatory and criminal, which occur within the facility. Secures copies of documents, surveillance video, reports, logs, etc., that are necessary to document such incidents. Maintains complete confidentiality of all information received.
- Enforces Lottery and Gaming’s Licensing requirement that all facility employees have their credentials on their person and are visible
for display.
- Works with Lottery and Gaming’s Licensing Department to ensure that all vendors, manufacturers, etc., are licensed in accordance
with regulations.
- Provides assistance to MLGCA’s Internal Audit and Accounting Departments when requested or as needed.
- Observes the gaming floor for violations of Internal Controls or COMAR regulations.
- Observes the opening and/or closing of betting windows to ensure proper procedures are followed.
- Observes kiosk and betting window drops and counts to ensure proper procedures are followed.
- Reports observations of suspicious activity, underage patrons, intoxicated patrons, or excluded persons to venue personnel for appropriate action. Reports same through reporting system to MLGCA.
- Coordinates activities with the appropriate facility personnel concerning all kiosk placements, replacements, floor plans, and all necessary surveillance coverage with every floor plan change.
- Conducts inquiries regarding facility operation and secures copies of documents, tapes/discs, reports, logs, etc, that are necessary to identify violations of laws, regulations and internal controls. Maintains complete confidentiality and security of all information received.
- Ensures facility all signage complies with Lottery and Gaming’s regulations.
- Maintains familiarity with all documents relating to sports wagering compliance such as the property internal controls, property rules, regulations and such as the facility internal controls, facility rules, procedures and Lottery rules, regulations and internal policies.
- Perform other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualification:
Experience conducting investigations
Experience conducting regulatory compliance for gaming.
Customer service experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may
be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees
assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s
license valid in the State of Maryland.
