Main Purpose of Job

Organize and coordinate all supplies and services within the State Department of Veterans Affairs. Perform work necessary for fleet management; weapons management; supply; stock control, property management, and processing incoming military funeral honors requests. .

POSITION DUTIES

Manage and maintains central uniform/supply storage and inventory. Manages all aspects of the uniform cleaning process including establishing contracts with present and future cleaners, ensuring accuracy of reimbursements, and timely reporting of expenditures. Conducts inspections of records and facilities to ensure compliance with all applicable state regulations regarding fleet and equipment management within Veteran Affairs. Ensure a safe operating environment in accordance with State policies and current requirements for vehicles and equipment. Regularly coordinates with the Program Manager and Area Managers regarding current and future needs to maintain adequate inventory levels within fiscal restraints. Gathers accurate and timely data for preparing various documents, reports and assist Management Associate in processing incoming Military Funeral Honors Requests. Serve as a back-up to the Management Associate when required. Orders supplies and equipment in accordance with the State Inventory Management Division of the Department of General Services.

Develops and conducts training and instructions for Veteran Affairs personnel in the following areas:

 -Safety, security, maintenance, and records management

-Vehicle safety, security, maintenance, and records management

 -Uniform and equipment security, maintenance, and records management.

Gathers accurate and timely data for preparing various documents, reports and assist Management Associate in processing incoming Military Funeral Honors Requests.

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

One (1) year of experience working with fleet management or supply management.

One (1) year of experience with an inventory database.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates may be responsible for providing their own transportation as needed to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations as assigned.
