POSITION DUTIES

The Office of the Attorney General is seeking applicants for a Mediator to assist in the administration of the Mediation Unit in the Consumer Protection Division for our Hagerstown office. The position is responsible for hands on negotiation of complex consumer complaints; and assisting in the management of the unit’s daily caseload.This position is part time (80%)- 32 hours/week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Three years experience in administrative or social work.  (Pertinent volunteer and/or part-time experience is acceptable)
Strong interpersonal, writing, and organizational skills are required.  

Notes: 

1, Applicants may substitute up to two years of education for up to two years of experience. 

2. Applicants may substitute additional experience in mediation or legal work on a year-for-year basis for the required education. 

3. Applicants may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience in mediation is preferred. 
2. Experience working in legal office/field preferred.
