This is a 12-month position on the Maryland School for the Deaf – Columbia Campus.

POSITION DUTIES
This position performs a variety of complex secretarial and clerical duties for the Principal's Office. The incumbent will maintain regular contact with staff, parents, visitors, State agencies, and County School Systems.
This position
functions as the Maryland School for the Deaf – Columbia Campus
Transportation Coordinator. It requires
communication with the Maryland School for the Blind and all County
transportation officials, drivers, parents, and school staff. This position also supports the transportation duties of
department secretaries.
The
Administrative Aide maintains
student permanent records, clinical records, Medical Assistance files
and responds to official requests for records from other agencies and schools.
This
position also collaborates with the front office to provide support in
maintaining front office coverage, responding to phone calls, and assisting
visitors and staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Four years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties.
Notes:
1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Proficient in or able to carry a
conversation in American Sign Language and able to demonstrate written English
proficiency.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Not required, but certificate from secretarial training program can be substituted
for one year of experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
New hires are subject to a criminal background investigation at their own expense. (Maryland Code, Family Law Article 1, Sections 5-560-568)
Candidates will need to provide three letters of recommendation with their application.
