Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this full-time contractual position is to provide administrative assistance and support to the Director of compliance, Deputy Director of compliance and investigative staff. This position will assist in expediting the flow of the administrative and day to day work load to effectively and efficiently carry out the mandated functions of the Board of Social Work Examiners.  This position will maintain and update software databases.

Other duties include but are not limited to: 
**collecting and compiling documents received to include logging the data into software databases
**organizing reports for Board Meetings, scheduling staff meetings, maintaining calendars, receiving and disbursing unit mail, preparing documents for signature, amongst other assigned duties
**drafting notices to complainants, attorneys, prosecutors, and other internal and external stakeholders, in addition to scheduling hearings and other essential meetings
**organizing, setting up, and tracking the status of complaints received and processed by the compliance unit
**participating in all essential unit meetings
**analyzing and interpreting data, information and situations, and makes recommendations when data does not conform to established standards, policies or laws
**assisting in the administration of an assigned program, the supervision of an operational unit within an agency and in the preparation of final reports and suggested recommendations for the improvement of the agency or its programs
**consulting with program heads and administrative officials regarding policies, trends, and interpretation of data and program needs
**researching and compiling data, as directed
**preparing statistical tables, charts and reports, work-flow charts, staffing patterns, and organizational charts
**assisting in the planning and implementation of new or revised programs, procedures, practices, and organizations
**may provide assistance to a higher-level administrator in the formulation and preparation of an agency's budget or portions of the budget

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
**Experience obtaining, analyzing, and interpreting data
**Experience applying laws
**Experience with Microsoft (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and Google Suite (Google Docs) or similar program applications
**Work experience in public-facing customer service roles
**Excellent written and oral communication
**Experience with reconciling and/or monitoring financial/budgetary accounts and daily receipt processing

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
