POSITION DUTIES

Incumbent is responsible for the smooth, prompt and courteous processing of ground rent and charter documents. This includes all duties related to paralegal and administrative assistance associated with SDAT's ground rent program and may include the provision of copies of charter documents, trade name filings, name reservations, and certificates of status, the processing of transactions, and responding to customer inquiries by email and telephone. The employee shall provide full performance levels of support to the Legal Department, a unit of corporate attorneys who carry out statutory mandates articulated in the Maryland Corporations and Associations Code Annotated. Exercises independent judgment and action on tasks delegated by the Program Manager. This includes all duties related to organizing workflow, assigning tasks, obtaining documents, reviewing filings, legal research and application of relevant Maryland law. Provides excellent customer service in accordance with the Department’s Customer Service Policy to the Department. This customer service requirement is applicable to all other job duties. Customer Service may be provided by phone, email, written correspondence and in-person contact.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience performing clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working in a fast-paced, customer and team-oriented work environment. 
Professional oral/written communication and interpersonal skills. 
Experience using Microsoft Office, Google, and entering data into a database system. 
Experience using a Multi-line phone system, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
Experience working with the State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT) internal programs. 
Experience working with the public via telephone, in person, and via written correspondence

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Must be willing to work in Baltimore City.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates may be responsible for providing their own transportation as needed to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations as assigned.
