Introduction
The Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC), is seeking an experienced
and energetic individual to fill the position of Administrative Officer II in their Career Workforce Education/Private Career Unit.

LOCATION OF POSITION
POSITION DUTIES
The main purpose of this position is to provide
administrative and project support to the Department of Academic Affairs, which
includes coordinating oversight of:
- Provide
administrative support for the Department of Academic Affairs,
particularly the Career and Workforce Education/Private Career School
Unit.
- Finalizes, reproduces, and mails the Annual Report for Private Career Schools.
- Maintains records of all certificates of approval granted to and withdrawn from private career schools.
- Arranges the meetings of private career school committees and respond to committee member inquiries.
- Respond to student transcript request inquiries.
- Using current computer software, updates forms, letters, contracts, etc..
- Maintains up-to-date applications, forms, regulations, and other documents required by the staff of the Department of Academic Affairs.
The position frequently requires that independent judgment be exercised without supervision. Additionally, extensive knowledge of office management methods, some knowledge of higher education administration, and ability to plan and organize are vital to the success of this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Experience: Two years experience in administrative or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in higher education setting within a public or private institution.
- One year experience in Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Access, etc)
- Experience with students transcripts and grant approval awards.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must be provided prior to hire.
