POSITION DUTIES
The main purpose of this position is to effectively manage all security and telecommunications systems and contracts, ensuring the continuity of services throughout DJS operations supporting over 50 facilities including 14 hardware secure detention facilities and 38 field offices. This position will function as a lead for Computer Network Specialist and Management Associates classifications. This position manages all aspects pertaining to telecommunication purchases; moves, adds and changes (MACs); repairs; maintenance; and customer service. This position manages contracts and ensures vendor compliance, including: reporting incidents to the appropriate vendor servicing entity and facilitating service orders for non-DJS managed telecommunication systems as well as, reviewing and processing carrier invoices for accuracy to ensure all invoices are received and handled monthly. Additionally, this position assists the Electronic Security System Director and other IT staff with contract management and equipment maintenance as required, as well as maintains asset inventory and any other operational requirements of telecommunications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.
2 years of experience in software design, installation and operation of telephone and telecommunications systems.
2.
2 years of experience supervising lower level staff members
3. 2 years of FMIS experiences in process requisitions.
4. 2 years of Project Management experiences
5. 2 years of Vendor Management experiences

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
