Main Purpose of Job

The position functions as the Director of Labor Relations and special assistant and advisor to the Superintendent. The position is responsible for assuring compliance with the States collective bargaining laws, contract negotiation, interpretation and application of the States Memorandum of Understanding and maintaining effective relationships with the various employee groups. The position will consult with the Superintendent and advise on a broad range of policy and Admanagerial topics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified applicants must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and six years of professional administrative experience.

Candidates may substitute additional years of experience for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

 

SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be included for further evaluation. The evaluation will include rating your application based on education, training and experience as they relate to the requirements of the position.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employees and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
