Main Purpose of Job
The Enforcement and Compliance Investigator under the direction of a Regional Enforcement Supervisor, an Enforcement and Compliance Investigator with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC) performs independent work conducting announced and unannounced investigations of medical cannabis growers, processors, and dispensaries licensed by the MMCC. Industry inspections will take place across the state of Maryland, and will include, but are not limited to inspection of equipment, raw and processed material, containers and labeling, and all things therein including:
(c) Financial data;
(d) Sales data;
(e) Shipping data;
(f) Pricing data;
(g) Employee data;
(m) Inventory and medical cannabis;
(n) Inspect any equipment, instruments, tools or machinery used to process medical cannabis.
This position requires frequent travel to facilities across the state, an attention to detail , the ability to document findings for enforcement action if necessary, and the ability to collaborate with other investigators within MMCC's Bureau of Enforcement and Compliance.
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Highly motivated in a self-directed work environment

- Demonstrated proficiency using all Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to compile and analyze data points and create detailed reports of findings
- Ability to write reports
- Must pass a background investigation/random drug testing
- Must be able to maintain a current Maryland Driver's License in good standing
Experience in the following may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education:
Experience conducting criminal investigations, including the preparation of analyses and reports for use in legal proceedings;
Auditing experience; or
Experience performing facility inspection and compliance monitoring is a plus.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will be highly motivated in a self-directed work environment, have outstanding communication skills, can demonstrate proficiency using all Microsoft Office applications, have the ability to compile and analyze data points, create detailed reports of findings, and write reports.
LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
This position requires the candidate to pass a background investigation. The incumbent will be subject to random drug testing and must maintain a current Maryland Driver's License in good standing.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification will be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to maintain a current Maryland Driver's License in good standing.

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
