Main Purpose of Job

The Maintenance Chief II will supervise and participate in all exterior maintenance and repairs to the facilities buildings and grounds. The position will also assist with assigning work orders and supervise maintenance workers engaged in various trades such as electrical wok, plumbing, carpentry, locksmithing, and groundskeeping.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of eighth grade.

Experience: Three years experience in the building maintenance or building construction trades including two years of responsibility for assigning, reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience..

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates who possess a trade license and/or certification in one of the following trades are preferred: Carpentry, electrical/electrician, building/facility maintenance, HVAC, painting, or plumbing

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in the licensed option must possess and maintain a current Maryland First Grade Stationary Engineer License from the Board of Examining Engineers and must list the license number and date on the application.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

The assessment will be a rating of your application based on your education, training, and experience as it relates to the requirements of the position. Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate educational and employment information on your application. If you completed education outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. The Certified Eligible list will be used by the hiring agency to select employees.
