LOCATION OF POSITION

Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to repair, replace, or install new electrical equipment. Equipment may range from branch circuitry to the operation of emergency systems generator and high voltage switch gear. This position is also responsible for repairing, replacing, and maintaining new and existing machinery containing pneumatic, hydraulic, steam, and hot water controls. The applicant selected for this position must be available for emergencies on or off hours, should they arise.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of the eighth grade.
Experience: Four years of experience installing, repairing, testing and maintaining electrical systems, equipment, fixtures and control devices at commercial or residential buildings or other facilities.
Notes:
1. Additional experience as described above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Graduation from an accredited vocational or technical high school or other vocational or technical school with a concentration in electricity may be substituted for three years of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience as a non-commissioned officer in construction electrician classifications or construction and engineering specialty codes in the installation and repair of electrical systems, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employees in this classification may be subject to call-in 24-hours a day and may be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they can be reached.
2. Employees in this classification who are designated as Level I or Level II employees shall attend and successfully complete the appropriate asbestos safety and health training as required by Executive Order 01.01.1987.22.
