Comments DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated education and experience meeting the following desired or preferred qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in architectural history, historic preservation, architecture, history or closely related field. Experience: Three (3) years or more fulltime experience working in the field of historic preservation. Experience in cultural resource management work for compliance with implementing federal and state historic preservation law, principally Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. Experience in evaluating the eligibility of historic resources the National Register of Historic Places and preparation or substantive review of Determination of Eligibility forms or National Register nominations. Experience in evaluating projects and completed work for compliance with preservation and construction best practices and conformance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Supplemental Questions for Application: 1.Describe your experience in cultural resource management work, particularly compliance with federal and state historic preservation project reviews under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. 2.Explain what experience you have had in evaluating the eligibility of historic resources for listing in the National Register of Historic Places and preparing or reviewing Determination of Eligibility forms or National Register nominations. 3.Describe your work experience in evaluating projects and completed work for compliance with preservation and construction best practices and conformance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. 4.Explain your knowledge and familiarity with Maryland history and architecture, as demonstrated by completed college or graduate program course work and/or direct work experience with Maryland resources.
