NATURE OF WORK

A Housekeeping Supervisor II is the supervisory level of work responsible for housekeeping activities in a small or medium sized State institution or other public building.  Employees in this classification serve as the principal assistant to an Executive Housekeeper in a small or medium sized State institution or other public building.  Employees in this classification supervise lower-level Housekeeping Supervisors and Building Services Workers.

Employees in this classification receive general supervision from a Housekeeping Supervisor IV or a designated administrator.  Employees in this classification may be required to work weekends and holidays based on staffing needs.  Employees in this classification may be required to live on the grounds of the facility or agency.

Positions in this classification are evaluated using the Classification Job Evaluation Methodology.  The use of this method involves comparing the assigned duties and responsibilities of a position to the job criteria found in the Nature of Work and Examples of Work sections of a class specification.  Supervisory responsibility and the size of the institution are the primary determining factors for these positions.

The Housekeeping Supervisor II is differentiated from the Housekeeping Supervisor I in that the Housekeeping Supervisor II has full supervisory responsibility for lower-level Housekeeping Supervisors and serves as the principal assistant to an Executive Housekeeper in a small or medium sized State institution or other public building while the Housekeeping Supervisor I has supervisory responsibility for specific phases of housekeeping activities.  The Housekeeping Supervisor II is differentiated from the Housekeeping Supervisor III in that the Housekeeping Supervisor III has full supervisory responsibility for lower-level Housekeeping Supervisors and serves as the Executive Housekeeper at a small or medium sized State institution or other public building.
