NATURE OF WORK

A fully experienced senior attorney who has demonstrated the highest level of competence.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

Functions as primary counsel and resource for a statewide area of expertise, such as the General Assembly, Opinions and Advice, or Civil Litigation. Acts as general counsel and advisor to the General Assembly, the Governor, and various other agencies, represents the Legislature and its agencies in court, and assists in major State litigation, or acts as chief counsel for opinions and advice or civil litigations involving the issuance of opinion letters and letters of advice to all State agencies in the strategy, preparation and presentation of major litigation cases. Assigned all duties and responsibilities of a general counsel but at this level such duties and responsibilities extend to all State agencies. The full range of legal services provided depends on which of the three positions listed above is held. These positions have a great deal of freedom and responsibility in how legal services are provided.
