NATURE OF WORK

Three years of experience as a legal counsel providing advice and guidance to agency officials and possession a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or Masters in Letters of Law (L.L.M.) degree.

General administrative supervision is received from the designated program administrator.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

Professional legal counsel staff work at the working lead or advanced level.

Provides consultative and advisory legal work on matters affecting agency operations and administration with responsibility for leading lower level staff attorneys and/or supervising a group of law clerks.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assigning work and reviewing completed assignments for completeness and conformance with the agency/administration operating policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Three years of experience as a legal counsel providing advice and guidance to agency officials and possession a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or Masters in Letters of Law (L.L.M.) degree.

Notes: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in judge advocate general classification or judge advocate general specialty codes in the general attorney field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
