Responsibilities
Performs varied tasks in support of the Law Department which requires intermediate computer skills and experience performing a variety of routine and complex clerical work assignments in an office setting. Work assignments are often confidential in nature and the incumbent must be able to ensure the security and confidentiality of various assignments. Types and maintains personnel, financial, and similar records. Performs customer service functions, answers routine questions, and provides assistance and information related to department cases and court procedures. Sorts, distributes and files correspondence, mail, documents and other records. Composes routine correspondence for staff members and assists with mass mailings. Processes subpoenas and court documents for the Prosecutor's Office. Gathers and receives information regarding cases; reviews incident and criminal history reports, driving history records, crime lab reports, photographs/videotapes, discovery requests and other documentation. Relays communications with witnesses and other individuals associated with cases to the prosecutors; informs pertinent individuals of court dates, changes in court dates or other relevant information.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.).
License Requirements
Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
General Requirements
Experience in the field of law or law enforcement as support staff is desirable.

Background Check
A background investigation and evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity is required prior to employment. All candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including current city employees seeking transfer, promotion, demotion, etc. into a classified position.
Medical Examination & Drug and Nicotine Testing
Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination including drug screen. Applicants offered employment with the City will be required to pass a nicotine screening. Newly hired employees must remain tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment.
