Budget Systems Technician

Responsibilities

Administers budgets for all funds.  Reviews federal and third party contracts, appropriations for federal, state and foundation grants.  Manages and tracks software licenses, professional services contracts and agreements.  Assists staff in research, compilation, maintenance, input and reporting of data concerned with budget systems projects.  Compiles and analyzes data for use in administering various budget items.  Develops and maintains tracking systems for requisitions, completing transactions in Banner, appropriates transfers and budget entries.  Must have knowledge of basic analytical techniques and the ability to grasp and apply the principles of accounting and analysis and apply to problems.  Prepares reports for Directors based on research and recommendations. Customer service is essential as the incumbent acknowledges and processes service requests for other City of Dayton departments and for various vendors. The incumbent must exercise tact and discretion regarding confidential materials and information.  The various departments that utilize this position include:  Aviation, Central Services, Economic Development, Office of Management and Budget, Police and Public Works. Current opening is in Water.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Business Administration, Management Science, Finance, Mathematics, Marketing, Accounting, Economics, Econometrics, Public Administration or related field AND 2 years of experience in budgeting or finance. 
OR
Associate's degree in Business, Business Administration, Management Science, Finance, Mathematics, Marketing, Accounting, Economics, Econometrics, Public Administration or related field AND 3 years of experience in budgeting or finance.

Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U. S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities or equivalent region.  

License Requirements

Must have a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain as a condition of employment.

Background Check 
A background investigation and evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity is required prior to employment. All candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including current city employees seeking transfer, promotion, demotion, etc. into a classified position.

Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination including drug screen. Applicants offered employment with the City will be required to pass a nicotine screening. Newly hired employees must remain tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment. The Tobacco and Nicotine Free Hiring Policy does not apply to current City employees.
