Responsibilities
The Information Systems Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation and management of IT infrastructure systems. This role includes supervising staff, prioritizing work based on city policies and available resources, and ensuring that technology solutions align with departmental needs. The supervisor evaluates and implements new technologies, improves existing systems, and ensures that services meet standards for security, performance and compliance. The incumbent will play a key role in IT disaster recovery planning and business continuity efforts, while also collaborating with other departments, vendors and stakeholders. The position requires strong leadership, project management, and technical skills across a range of IT domains, including networking, applications, databases, storage and system support. The incumbent is also involved in budgeting, contract management, and may assume the duties of the Division Manager in their absence, requiring a thorough understanding of the City's administrative policies and IT operations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or a related field
AND 5 years of experience in Information Technology as a Systems Engineer, Systems Analyst, GIS Coordinator, or Database Manager
AND 2 years of experience as a manager, supervisor, project manager or team lead;
OR
Associate's degree in Business, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or a related field AND 7 years of experience in Information Technology as a Systems Engineer, Systems Analyst, GIS Coordinator, or Database Manager AND 3 years of experience as a manager, supervisor, project manager or team lead.
Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region.
Certifications
Must have at a minimum two (2) of the following certifications within 6 months of appointment:
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
- Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (DBA, Enterprises Administrator, or Server Administrator)
- VMWare (VCP)
- IT Security (CISM, CompTiaSecurity+, CISA, CISSP)
- Nortel or Cisco Network Engineer
- Project Management Professional
- ITIL
- COBIT
- Six Sigma
License Requirements
Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employement.

Background Check
A background investigation and evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity is required prior to employment. All candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including current city employees seeking transfer, promotion, demotion, etc. into a classified position.
Medical Examination & Drug and Nicotine Testing
Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination including drug screen. Applicants offered employment with the City will be required to pass a nicotine screening. Newly hired employees must remain tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment. The Tobacco and Nicotine Free Hiring Policy does not apply to current City employees.
