Responsibilities
Delivers food, supplies, materials, equipment; hauls trash, furniture and construction materials in a timely fashion to specified locations. Loads trucks or vans based on information listed on route delivery record. Operates power machinery such as forklift and power pallet jack. Verifies the contents of inventory load against delivery record. Maintains records including mileage logs, delivery records, and maintenance requests. Performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and entire movement of the whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Minimum Qualifications
Must have 4 years of experience operating motorized vehicles.
Age
Must be at least 21 years of age.
License Requirements
Must possess a valid Ohio Class B Commercial Driver's License (C.D.L.) at time of examination.
General Requirements
Must be able to lift and maneuver supplies and material in excess of 100 pounds; possess manual dexterity and stamina; able to stand, bend, reach, stack and carry items. Must be able to work in various environments such as warehouse, refrigerated/frozen areas, and outdoors, and able to operate power machinery and computerized equipment. Must be insurable by the Board of Education's insurance carrier (disqualifying factors: DUI, more than 6 points on driving record in the past 3 years, etc.). Must pass an annual Ohio Department of Education physical.
Citizenship
Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the United States at time of application.
Background Investigation
Must be able to pass the Federal and State Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation report in accordance with Section 3301-83-06 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
Military Credit
Open Competitive applicants who have had military service will receive an additional credit of 20% if a passing grade is attained. TO OBTAIN CREDIT, A NON-RETURNABLE COPY OF THE DD214 OR CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE (INDICATING HONORABLE DISCHARGE) MUST BE SUBMITTED AT TIME OF EXAMINATION.
Promotional Qualifications
Current employment with Dayton Public Schools must be indicated on your application in order to receive promotional credit. Current employment will be verified by Dayton Public Schools’ Human Resources Department. Identical scores will be broken by (1) seniority and (2) random selection method.
Open Competitive Applicants
Applicants appearing on the Promotional eligible list shall be considered for appointment prior to those on the Open Competitive list. Identical scores will be broken in favor of: (1) the candidate who received military credit and (2) random selection method.

Examination dates and times are subject to change. Calculators will be provided for the Civil Service examination. Final appointment may be contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination, drug screen and/or police background investigation and providing documentary evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity.
