Assistant Buyer

Responsibilities

The incumbent will provide analytical, technical procurement and customer service support in managing various procurement processes such as supplier application and registration, supplier commodity management, data entry of purchase requisitions, and procurement documentation. Incumbent will facilitate management of the SharePoint Website and serve as the Bid Custodian. The incumbent will compose, draft, and communicate problem analyses and presentations and ensure that processes and procedures are executed. Strong written and oral communication skills are necessary while interacting with representatives of other City departments, suppliers and all other internal and external customers. The Assistant Buyer assists in reducing organizational expenses in the procurement of needed goods and services. Will be required to perform special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Business Administration, Management Science, Finance, Mathematics, Marketing, Accounting, Economics, Econometrics, Public Administration or related field

OR 

Associate's degree in Business, Business Administration, Management Science, Finance, Mathematics, Marketing, Accounting, Economics, Econometrics, Public Administration or related field AND 2 years experience in procurement operations, business or financial management. 

Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region.

License Requirements

Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.

Background Check 
A background investigation and evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity is required prior to employment. All candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including current city employees seeking transfer, promotion, demotion, etc. into a classified position.

Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination including drug screen. Applicants offered employment with the City will be required to pass a nicotine screening. Newly hired employees must remain tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment.
