Financial Tax Analyst I

Responsibilities

The City of Dayton, Ohio Department of Finance desires to fill the position of Financial Tax Analyst I. This position is an important part of the Income Tax Compliance Team in the Division of Tax and Accounting and will ensure income tax revenue is collected by conducting various taxpayer discovery and compliance projects, including but not limited to providing employer withholding reconciliation and construction contractor reviews.

In addition, the Financial Tax Analyst I will: 

  • Perform internal and external audits, prepare reports and tax returns, apply effective research and analysis to ensure that business taxpayers comply with the Income Tax Ordinance, Rules and Regulations, and other applicable policies.  
  • Educate the public on tax ordinances, laws, rules, regulations, and general accounting practices and provide excellent customer service to business and individual taxpayer clients; and serve as an outreach liaison to new businesses coming into the City.  
  • Manage a variety of tax programs and projects and perform duties related to the taxpayer discovery, revenue enhancement, and compliance projects, collection, processing, and other duties as assigned for local Income tax administration.  
The Financial Tax Analyst I will work within a team of other Financial Analysts and Tax Auditors.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field AND 3 years of experience in accounting, auditing, collections or other finance related work, including preparation of income tax returns, tax analysis, and project management.

Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities or equivalent region.

License Requirements

Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.

Appointment to positions in this classification will require applicants to pass a police background investigation. Final permanent appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination, including drug screen, and providing documentary evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity.
