Responsibilities

Supervises maintenance and operational functions to optimize the performance of an advanced water reclamation facility on a continuous basis. The incumbent ensures efficient performance of a wide variety of functions including, but not limited to, troubleshooting and repair and record keeping on operations and equipment use. Maintains inventory of parts/supplies and assures that all plant equipment are maintained; assists in the development of equipment specifications, material requirements, and cost estimates. The incumbent has primary responsibility for the maintenance of the treatment facilities on a 24 hour, around the clock basis; serves as the backup/support to the other Treatment Plant Operations Supervisor and has considerable latitude in making maintenance and equipment adjustments, daily operating decisions, and employee assignments.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Must meet one of the following:

1.  Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Wastewater Technology, Environmental Science, or a closely related field AND 5 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater facility. Three of the five years must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR

2.  Associate's degree in Engineering, Wastewater Technology, Environmental Science, or a closely related field AND 10 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater facility.  Five of the ten years must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR

3.  Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.) AND 15 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment facility.  Eight of the fifteen years must have been in a supervisory capacity.

Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region.


License Requirements

Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.


Special Requirements

Must possess a valid Ohio EPA Wastewater Operator Class III license at time of application.

Appointment to positions in this classification will require applicants to pass a police background investigation.

Final permanent appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination, including drug screen and providing documentary evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity required by the Immigration and Nationality Act.
