The State of Connecticut, Department of Consumer Protection (DCP), Gaming Division is currently accepting applications for a part-time Lottery Drawing Officer to support the regulation of legalized lottery drawing activities within the State of Connecticut.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Location: 450 Columbus Boulevard, Hartford
  • Part Time: 20 hours per week or more with each scheduled shift lasting 4 or more hours
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be available for all assigned shifts and are required to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends on a rotating basis
  • Incumbents must possess an operable motor vehicle and valid driver's license. Please list your valid and current licenses on your application in the “Licenses and Certifications” section of your application.
  • Travel is required between drawing locations for assignments, including during inclement weather conditions

THE ROLE
Lottery Drawing Officers will work to ensure compliance with agency policy, procedures, and security regulations while monitoring lottery drawing activities and by providing information and assistance to licensees, the public and employees. Lottery Drawing Officers may work collaboratively with other officers within the Gaming Division in support of monitoring lottery drawing activities.

    PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

    In the Department of Consumer Protection, this class is accountable for ensuring the integrity of televised lottery drawings.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    Performs independent verification of televised lottery drawings, at drawing site; ensures the integrity of established lottery program guidelines; weighs and inspects lottery balls to ensure integrity; observes and ensures chain of custody of lottery balls prior to, during and proceeding lottery drawings; verifies winning numbers; assists with background checks as necessary; completes related paperwork.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

    Working knowledge of physical security systems, techniques and procedures; knowledge of relevant agency policies and procedures; basic knowledge of lottery rules and regulations applicable to lottery drawings; interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills; ability to apply good judgment and discretion; ability to utilize computer software.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

    One (1) year of experience in the enforcement of security regulations.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience regulating or auditing operations.
    • Experience following a course of action based on written procedures or regulations.
    • Experience performing security examinations.
    • Experience reviewing confidential documents or practices.
    • Experience preparing written reports.
    • Ability to obtain and retain Connecticut Criminal History Request System (CCHRS) certification.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    1. Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
    2. Incumbents may be required to travel.

    CHARACTER REQUIREMENTS

    In addition to the checking of references and of facts stated in the application, a thorough background investigation of each candidate will be made before persons are certified for appointment.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Incumbents must have general good health and retain sufficient visual and auditory acuity required to perform all the duties of the class.
